Already names suggested for Indian presidential election 2012 includes Pranab Mukherjee, P.A. Sangma, A.P.J Abdul Kalam, Somanath Chatterjee and Hamid Ansari. As we all know some of them were rejected by the political parties. Congress party has announced Indian Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee as the UPA nominee for Indian presidential election 2012. He is a strong politician to become the future president of India. But who else are the nominees for Indian presidential election 2012? Dr A. P.J. Abdul Kalam, who was the 11th president of India, was the Trinamool Congress’s candidate of choice. He was also supported by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and several other political parties. But according to the latest reports, Dr A. P.J. Abdul Kalam has refused to contest in this presidential election 2012.
Based on Kalam’s decision, Mamata was totally disappointed. Following the withdrawal of Abdul Kalam from presidential election 2012 and her inability to support P.A Sangma, there are reports that Mamata may abstain from voting. At the same time Shiv Sena will support Pranab Mukherjee for the upcoming Presidential election. On 18 June 2012, NCP General Secretary D P Tripathi informed that they have full faith in P. A Sangma that he will opt out from presidential poll 2012 and to support Pranab Mukherjee. It’s clear that Sangma is facing pressures from party sides to withdraw from the presidential race. Even NCP chief Sharad Pawar had advised Sangma to withdraw from this election. P.A.Sangma latest news reports that he had resigned from NCP to compete for presidential election.
